WT as tandem, indeed, but as Ford didn't note that much the difference in the brochure, talking about W-Series as a whole, I'm not sure it's that useful to emphasize the difference in the IMCDb...![]() (Excerpt from the 1971 brochure) With the Louisville grille, which means a 1973+ model. -- Last edit: 2015-04-09 06:13:14 |

The Correct Year is listed for this truck, however, There would be no W-1000 or WT-1000 with the Louisville Grill and the Ford WT-9000 didn't come out until the 1974 Titled Model Trucks, to replace the last of the Square Grill Trucks, so, this Truck would be none other than a 1973 Ford W-9000, A little history on this particular truck, It was probably ordered as a Fleet Truck, Because, it has no Owner Operator Badge of the Side of the Doors under the Window's like the Blue Mule and Birdie's (The Brat Truck Did) The truck was ordered on 1/19/73, Rolled off the Assembly Line on 2/3/73 and the company received it on 2/23/73 Sold to Universal Studio Truck Lots on 5/28/74, For the Role in this movie, After filming it remained belonging to Universal Studio Truck Lots on 3/23/84 It was one of 10 movie Trucks to burn down in a ware house fire along with The Two Green and Brown Peterbilt 359 you see that pulls around the Flatbed in this movie, The Two Stunt Trucks from The Great Smokey Roadblock, 1 B.J. and the Bear Kenworth Aerodyne, 1 Movin' On Kenworth W-900, The Kenworth W-925 The Chracter Will Chandler drove in the Pilot Episode of Movin' On, GMC General Hammer drove in B.J. and the Bear, The GMC General from Coast to Coast and Ford W-1000 That Was the Year: 1970 all burnt down in that ware house fire as well, as well as the original reals for Movin' On and B.J. and the Bear, People always said there 1 or 2 Smokey and the Bandit Kenworth's in that fire as well and that was a rumor, Those trucks were considered scrapped since that day and was left of the fire of all the trucks and building was scrapped, the truck had a 350HP Cat in it with a 13 Speed as well, Technically this truck should have two stars as you see at the beginning of the movie when Jan Michael Vincent's Character (Carrol Jo Hummer) is buying the Blue Mule at the dealer and was discussing about the truck with the Salesman, Before He threw in that paint job just to help them young folks out like he said he would, This exact truck appeared at the Dealer for sale and was technically the Blue Mule before It got a brand new paint job Here are my brochure's for this Style and the one Brochure with the Older Style Square Grill on the truck Here is also a close up picture to one of my brochure's covers, If you look under the Door's Window, You will see a Circle and that would be the Owner Operator's Badge I was talking about earlier, also of what was including in the Owner Operator's Package with that badge under both window's of the truck as well was the writing's on the back inside Wall of the Sleeper, you can almost see that circle dash right after the Mirror in this picture, It's not showing up to bright in the picture, but, it's there -- Last edit: 2015-04-24 04:39:55 |

That grille was new for the 1974 model year. And the three axles shown in the second pic make this a WT-9000. |
