zodiac ◊ 2015-03-16 11:04	Almost correct. The W 108 body was available with a choice of three engines; M 108 for the 250 S, M 129 for the 250 SE and M 189 for the 300 SE. Both the 250 SE and the 300 SE had five digits. As the additional cost for the aluminium block 300 SL derivative M 189 was very steep (+ 30%), and not much was gained in terms of acceleration and top speed but rather lost in the sence of a rather steep fuel consumption (AMS test), not many were made. 250 SE were made in some 55.000 units while the 300 SE was not even made in 3.000 units http://wiki.mercedes-benz-classic.com/index.php/Kategorie:W108/W109 .
