Not really visible, but rare nowadays. |

Late 1980s model, I think. They were called Yugo America in Belux, was it the same in Germany ? |

Name for Germany should have been Yugo + [engine power in PS] (eg. Yugo 60 for the 1100cc) |

Yes. Period catalogue suggests that Yugo went on the German market in 1990 and this site rather confirms this (it gives period 1990-93). According to catalogues I own, in Germany were available models: ~1990/91 - "60 EFi", "65 EFi" ~1991/92 - the same what above plus "S 1.3 EFi" (="65 S" I believe) Such side claddings aren't typical for any of them. So it is customized (painted?) car or can be some 1992/93 version. |

Not in Germany. Here it was named with the numbers, 45, 55, 65. |

I'm not sure, if the basic versions were sold in Germany. |

Most important question to me is how many were sold in Germany at all, because the only one I ever saw knowingly was in Switzerland 25 years ago. Do you happen to have any numbers? -- Last edit: 2016-02-07 21:30:10 |

They were sold here. A fellow from my NSU-Club was an official Yugo-dealer in Hamburg - but when I met him the last time, it was during the Yugoslavian war, and he was unsure, when and if he got the next cars for sale. They never came, so he focussed himself on the repair of Wankel-powered cars. I already told the story of th Yugo-dealer in Dortmund (where I lived between 1994 and 2005). He got a brand new Yugo in his showroom (a 65, IIRC). Due the Yugoslavian War the shop got no supplies any more and was closed down. The brand new Yugo 65 stood still in the abandoned showroom. For many years. The shopwindows became dusty, but the Yugo stood still there. After a long time (I think, 7 or 8 years), a new owner took over that garage and opened a brand-free repair-shop. This brand new Yugo 65 was pushed from the showroom to the backyard, where the wrecks and the scrap metal was stored. And someday it was gone. Most probable picked up by a "Klüngelskerl", as we call the scrap metal-dealers here in the Ruhr-area, original only with that melody: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9cPM7bIIFU btw.: a fellow (mainly an Audi 50-fanatic) owns a rust free Yugo 65 EFI. Two years ago he told, that he may be wants to sell it. I'm still thinking, if I'm crazy enough... -- Last edit: 2016-02-07 22:01:51 |

Why should you torture yourself? There are enough other cars that are both rare and cheap and still not as drab as a Yugo. |
