 Are there any clues to say it's a 300 GD instead of a 240 GD, a 230 G or a 280 GE ?

The systematics of the G-Modell ist quite confusing, even the Wiki-article doesn't support a quick understanding: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_G-Klasse

P.S. Despite some exceptions it's generally not possible to identify the engine-version of Benzes just by a look from the outside. So mostly the model-names and -numbers of Mercedes-Benz vehicles at IMCDb are based on pure arbitrariness and wild guessing.
