Looks like a pre-WW1 Peugeot Grand Prix car to me. A few of these machines found their way to the U.S. and were raced there in the 1910s with great success (scoring, among others, two Indianapolis victories as well). We know of an L45 (aka EX5) from 1914 that survived; considering the date of filming, it's not unlikely that they used this exact car in the movie. It is still around in great shape. |

Interesting that it's a 2 seater, but I suppose very early GP cars were because they carried a mechanic?? |
