Wow, Walter I have no idea it's really a Audi. I list this as Audi because... :p

A bit of a red Nissan Silvia [S13] on the left, and a 1988 Honda Civic on the right.

Well found.

"Our small but no doubt precious collection" has been rescued from a burst of Inappropriate Eradication. Interesting that it has only 3 real cars but 7 cartoons - suggests J artists thought these local-build Audis were important enough to deserve recognition??

In case the site goes again, the listed J-build models are:
- Audi 80: Oct 1989 - Feb 1992
- Audi 90: Oct 1989 - Nov 1992
- Audi 100: Oct 1989 - Nov 1991
- Audi 100 Avant: Oct 1989 - Nov 1991
- Audi V8: Oct 1989 - Nov 1993
- Audi 200: Oct 1990 - Jul 1992
- Audi Coupé: Oct 1991 - Oct 1993
- Audi 100: Nov 1991 - Nov 1994
- Audi 100 Avant: Nov 1991 - Nov 1994
- Audi 80: Feb 1992 - Oct 1995
- Audi 80 Avant: Oct 1993 - Oct 1995
- Audi Cabriolet: Oct 1993 - Oct 1996
- Audi A6: Nov 1994 - Sep 1997
- Audi A6 Avant: Nov 1994 - Sep 1997
- Audi S6: Nov 1994 - Oct 1996
- Audi A8: May 1995 - Jan 1998
- Audi A4: Oct 1995 - Jan 1998
- Audi A4 Avant: Oct 1996 - Jan 1998

I can't understand why you give some credibility to the page, when was marked as "unsourced" for at least six years and then recognized as a hoax and deleted.

I had not realised it was removed as a claimed hoax. Still looks very convincing with a specific narrative and detail, but I suppose good hoaxes have to be. The only niggle now I know it could be dodgy is that none of the pictures seem to be J-spec Audis.

And might as well ask - is it definite that it's a hoax, and not a hoaxed hoax??

There is info showing up for a company called Audi Japan K.K but only on import/wholesale, no mention of an assembly facility.

Seems that that Wikipedia page has been the only source talking abouth Japanese Audi assembly... I couldn't find anything else except the nowadays Japan importer searching on Google

I've never read about japanese factories too actually, my sources never talked that way... Could it be a Wikipedia blunder only? I'd suggest removing the JP built from the ones listed here unless we find a reliable source.

^ Fair enough to remove made in J if no other trace. But keep made for J in case some J build evidence ever emerges and we need to pull this batch out again.

I left the Made for J where the japanese specs are visible, the different 80/90 rear lights (which are the same for the US models) for instance.

Wiki is actually filled with dodgy information about Build locations. I suppose for main information they are very hot on having citations and sources, but not so much for this kind of info for whatever reason.
