This is a fantastic truck. I'm not so sure it was a Genuine GMC Stepside in the 1980 film "Any Which Way You Can", based on some pictures from the movie it looks more like a Chev with a GMC grill and tailgate, the speedo/dash and hood appear to be Chev. There also is no evidence of leaf spring rear suspension that would have indicated a GMC for sure (GMC did have coil spring as an option though). I would not have been surprised to see just the Chev hood on a GMC, but a working Chev speedo is a bit of effort to install for no real reason I can think of, this is what arouses my suspicion. I could be wrong, any comments? Additionally if the sound of the truck engine is accurate I would guess it's an I6 with manual gearbox. My long term project is to build a replica (would like to talk to any other enthusiasts). There is not much info about this truck on the internet, any references appreciated. My brother in law (just passed away 2012)was the owner of this truck. All I know is he did alot of work on the engine and interior. Standard shift. His significant other now owns it, in northern CA. It's been used in a few movies. Next time I talk to her, I'll try to find out more data. |

Oh, also, it's still being driven, and has manual steering. |
