An important occasion with crowds gathered for an important convoy, so car may be individually identifiable - plate is CVR/CYR/EVR/EYR 766/786 - the C combinations were 1936, the E 1938.

The shape of the roof, rear window and boot is unmistakeable. William Lyons had a superb eye for design. IMO you could have put this body on a Bentley chassis with no worries.

The name of the firm was, from 1933, SS Cars Ltd.

The company changed its name to Jaguar Cars Ltd in 1945.

The name at the top should read "1938 SS Jaguar 3 1/2 Litre".

Plate confirmed as CVR 796 from fractionally better copy on another BFI DVD set = Sept-Oct 1936, so excludes 1938+ 3½ Litre
