Right hand drive so this scene was filmed in Pakistan. Where would Mercedes MB 140s sold in Pakistan come from? -- Last edit: 2006-12-02 15:15:33 |

It's not Mercedes MB140, but Iran Khodro MB 140 from Iran |

So this is a "Mercedes" designed and built solely by Iran Khodro? |

With Mercedes name ws sold in Australia(but isn't of MB origins;in fact derives by Mitsubishi Delica by coque) |

So this would be a Mercedes-Benz MB 140, origin Japan? |

This car is also made by SsangYong (model name; Istana) in South-Korea and is probably based on Mitsubishi Delica -- Last edit: 2006-12-03 00:02:47 |

In fact the Aussie-market(imported,not assembled)Mercedes MB 140 was illustrated on a circa 2001 catalogue-leaflet for local market, together at other MB commercial vehicles(for reason of marketing it down there was considered a true Mercedes van,not a Mitsubishi/Ssangyong"badge engineering";unhappy, don't knew if Aussie market MB 140 fits original diesel Mercedes engines or Ssangyong diesel--many Mercedes-patterned,like the ones fitted on Ssangyong Musso,e.g.--units made under Mercedes license) PS Was normality the fact have Mitsubishi/Ssangyong origins:both are Brands in business with Daimler-Chrysler Group;only now discover that was built also by Iran Khodro under license in that Middle Eastern country |

Are we just assuming that this one is Iranian because Iran is next door to Pakistan? |

Yes. So i think it's Iran Khodro Diesel MB 140 made from 1997 in Teheran. That car was built from spanish MB 100 (1980-1996) and have 2300ccm, 122KM engine. Link to "www.globalautoindex.com" Link to "www.icciran.com" |

The reason I asked is that, since this is a right hand drive model, it seems more likely to be made by Ssangyong in Korea, as the RHD models for Australia were. |
