Plate RGP127 returns: 2001 VIN returns: built: June 26, 2001, "XLT" trim, 3.0L DOHC EFI V6, 4 Speed Auto - Column. The [BA] chassis code isn't a mistake here. Initially, Escapes sold in Australia had this code, but in late 2002, Ford introduced a new Falcon which also had the [BA] code. Obviously Ford couldn't have two vehicles with the same code, so the Escape changed to [ZA] that year (but was otherwise identical). This was then followed by the ZB, ZC, and ZD Escape. -- Last edit: 2017-02-13 19:59:59 |

Those are platform codes. We list based off the chassis code which is [U204]. Plenty of articles state the chassis code. Ford has an internal chassis code (which we use when discovered) or a platform code which we also use until a chassis code surfaces. I can list the articles again if needed but those two or three letter codes 'used for australian' vehicles aren't chassis codes but platform codes. They are two different things. Maybe Antp could add a platform code to appease your [BA] code but to conform to the database it makes sense to list under Ford's internal code of [U204]. If the field said platform code I would say yes use [BA] but we don't have a specific platform field only a chassis code field. |

Many Australian vehicles have such 2-letter codes, usually we put these in chassis-code, but for some Ford it is annoying as we cannot have at the same time the Australian well known code and the "international" one we sometimes use. |
