I know that. Because it is a Mazda 323 [BD] with DDR-plates. |

But the size is DDR-ish. Plus the fact, that in such a posed movie-scene, without any random background cars, never ever in a DDR-movie a West German visitor's car would be visible No kidding, in all DEFA-productions they were always very very picky with the appearing and visibility of any Western items, especially cars. Every requisite has hand-picked. Because it really had happened, that movies or movie-scenes were deleted or forbidden by the official censorship, when -for their opinion- something "too Western" appeared. For that reason, Western cars, also the well-known "made for DDR" VW Golf, Mazda 323 and Citroen GSA were often driven by the bad guys there. Not the Volvo 244 DLS -and never ever the 264- because they were reserved for the high nomenklatura. The coherence of "their" cars with a criminal or grubby movie-charakter was absolutely impossible ![]() A special gimmick: marriage impostors in DDR-movies always drove the Mazda 323 ![]() |
