 Just a Fake. The original (now in the AutoStadt in Wolfsburg) http://www.dw.de/image/0,,4549180_4,00.jpg has a yellow plate and is a 1968 VW 1300, that her on the pic is a 1200 (smaller bumpers, smaller taillights).

 These pictures are from USA version, tore-40. The last 1200cc engine were sold in our country was in 1965. The 1968 version has iron shaped taillights that is sold in our country as well as the 1300/1500 series.

I am trying to figure this one out for the German version here :think:

 Ok to be specific notice the length of the decklids, one almost touches the tailpipes. Easier to spot on the car, hence the choice of pictures

 Yes or rear lid, engine lid or any other name for it. The apron, the sheet between engine bay and tailpipes also changed in size.
