Same loophole a few years later meant Andy Rouse officially raced a Merkur XR4Ti in 85/86 instead of a Sierra, and was 85 champion.

The same trick was used in the french and belgian production series. The cars were supposed to be US-spec models, but in reality they were standard euro-spec 530 saloons with fuel injection added.
