I was just quoting what Clarkson said in the video, hence the quotation marks.

That’s not completely true… The British make good cars… In fact all European car manufactures’ make good cars.
So do the Japanese and Koreans and any one else I may have left out. There is always going to be "lemons" here and there.
I have driven my share of "lemons" and some of them were American made (or assembled, however you want to look at it)

The Koreans make good cars? Let's see, what have they got, Daewoo, Kia, Tata, Asia and Hyundai. Wow! Would you really choose to buy any car made by those companies over their European or Japanese conterparts?

Well if I write something with quoation marks/speech marks it means I am purely quoting from the dialogue of the film or TV program.

I can't help it but I always find it hilarious when Clarkson lays into some rather ordinary car from the 70s or 80s that may have been acceptable in it's day looks rather pathetic compared to what's available today, and people write in plaintively saying they had one (or even worse still own one) and it was a nice little car. It's almost like they're talking about a type of pet rather than an object and are upset for the memory of their old companion.

Allegro 1750(believe by grille)Mk 1,1973

PS About that car, recall the quadrangular steering wheel typical of 1st series;an Italian motor magazine of period says in a driving impression test:"the steering wheel was innovative, but obstacles steerability manouvres;however, the Allegro sure will enrich the steering wheel Makers"("Quattroruote",1973 July)

Tata is from India, not South Korea. But you can add Samsung to the list of korean manufacturers.

That's what he really meant. Obviously he's aware of all the fine cars made in Britain, he's just stating his suprise at the number of "bad" cars made in Britain.
