I don't believe the model name should be Nomad. The VIN breakdown only lists Chevy Van, Vandura, Sportvan, & Rally. No mention of Nomad in the VIN decoders as it is a trim level. See the 1979 & 1980 decoder PDFs. Should be ChevyVan with Nomad as extra information: 1979 VIN decoding: http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/techinfo/73-91VIN/1979truck.pdf 1980 VIN decoding: http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/techinfo/73-91VIN/1980truck.pdf Chevy model names are Chevy Van (commercial) & Sportvan (civilian). GMC model names are Vandura (commercial) & Rally (civilian). Decoding 1979 & 1980 VINs indicates the 2nd digit is the series.
