Registration (CQA330) was current up until late 2014. Amazing that this car lasted 29 years.

Believe it or not, there are still a few of these old MB Barinas getting around today. I saw one driving along the other day (in 2017!).

But it's in a show made relatively recently, and it might be owned by a film/television car supplier who thinks it's worth keeping as a period 1980s car.

Registration here costs $700 a year (nearly 400 GBP). No company would pay that much per year just to store an old car that isn't unique or special in any way (and if they did want to store it, they'd store it unregistered). Mid-1980s cars are a dime a dozen here in Australia and there are still plenty around in good condition.

Do the rego get cheaper as the car gets older?

Wow :wow: My Ad Valorem tax on the car I own usually goes down as the value of the car diminished.

For a show it can be very interesting to have an old non-mint car, looking like an average car but running fine (to avoid breakdowns while filming).
That's why from TV series and even from movies you can find back a lot of the cars on the sites of companies who make business by renting cars to movies/series makers.
