I think its a Ford. For one thing, the Ford had a wider grille.It doesnt look like there is the metal divider here between the headlights and grille, like Mercurys had. The taillights were also wraparound.Here, where the taillight would be, its a metal strip painted the same color as the roof pillar. Also, it would likely be a US-military import. Mercurys were a little more luxurious since it was a slightly more upscale brand. Ford's would have been the more probable car shipped to military bases overseas. |

My instinct says Mercury. Looks like the metal border around the wood instead of lighter wood border, though I can't be certain. |

But you should be able to see the taillight. The wood extends farther than the rear window, whereas Mercurys had wraparound taillights that would have prevented the woodgrain from stretching as far as it does here. |
