First in Fire Department guise. Verified as still being named 'Police Interceptor Utility' by plate, and Google images of the actual one used. |

A fire department using a police interceptor vehicle? |

I don't know the details, but the Chicago Police is also receiving Police Interceptors (both sedans and Utilities), so they could have piggy-backed off of that order. I don't think Ford is currently offering an SSV version of the [U502] Explorer, so this might be the best option for a fire department. I'd have to know the details of the purchase to be able to explain it better. |

Most of the time, FD's use police vehicles for their fleets. NYC does it all the time. |

In most cases though, the vehicles are retired police cars, not new police-package vehicles. |

I'm know, it's old comment, but it's not Police interceptor, in FD it's called "Battalion Chief", for fact ![]() |

I doubt there has been fleet sedans/SUVs made specifically for fire departments? -- Last edit: 2017-07-31 03:28:35 |

i doubt it too.. i think they're just police units with red paint.. that batalion chief thing might just be the vehicle reserved for the chief or something.. -- Last edit: 2017-07-31 03:32:28 |
