Do they really use the stretched one to stretch it again? |

It’s an Expedition Max (Max is visible on the door nameplate), so Made for Canada. A check of filming locations lists Canada as the country of origin. There are also other differences (besides the name) in U.S. and Canadian spec Expys, but they are mostly minor changes. If this is a fleet ordered Max (factory prepped for limousine use), then it lacks a few features found on its civilian counterparts. One notable difference in fleet limousines vs civilian is the fleets have a "Traction-Lok" (Traction-Lock) limited-slip rear differential. This due to the fact that fleets lack AdvanceTrac electronic stability control (ESC). |

It does seem silly to stretch a long-wheelbase vehicle, but limousine builders will stretch anything on four wheels. The Expedition EL (or in this case, the Expedition Max) offers more room behind the second row of seating, if kept. So I guess that extra room could be used for a bigger drink bar, customized seating, or whatever their imaginations can conjure up. For an Expedition though, it’s a sad fate. Its frame/chassis is cut, modified, and mutilated, which weakens it. So it is not (and never will be) able to tow at its full towing capacity. Not that anyone would tow with a limousine, but that fact still remains. I also recall reading that its towing equipment (if equipped) is stripped and removed where needed. Including the auxiliary transmission oil cooler. -- Last edit: 2013-11-12 03:17:36 |
