What do you mean by "completely different"?  On internet lots of these are just listed as Crown Victoria |

The internet is not always a reliable source. Many people refer to these cars just as Crown Victoria, and that works in a 1950:s context where it´s not necessesary to keep them apart from these: /vehicle_1743-Ford-Crown-Victoria-1992.html So Fairlane is essential to have in the name, otherwise we´ll have disorder in the database .gif ":)") |

Well, there are old and new Impala for example, so separate them is not mandatory  But if its real name contains Fairlane, then lets use it. But as lots of sources (e.g. Wikipedia) list them as just Crown Victoria I am not sure of what is right... -- Last edit: 2006-10-30 20:51:42 |

It was one of the models in the new Fairlane series, introduced for 1955: http://www.tocmp.com/brochures/Ford/1955/pages/55-03_JPG.htm Wikipedia mentions the Crown Victoria on a page about Ford Fairlane, as a version of the Fairlanes which is correct. On that page there´s a link to Crown Victoria and on that page there´s no mention about the connection to Fairlanes in 1955-56. Wikipedia has got many advantages, but also lots of errors. |

That metal post strip in the middle and over the roof makes it a Crown victoria some have a Plexieglass in the front part of the roof some don't, it's pre-sunroof. -- Last edit: 2006-10-31 18:20:09 |
