Owing to the fact that my homeland (Malta) had been a British Colony for quite a long period of time, one here finds a large number of Coles Cranes (probably the most popular cranes in Malta) & the Coles Hydra is certainly no exception & even though the Hydra is nowadays well over 40 years of age, most of them are still properly functioning-this shows us how much the Coles Hydra is a reliable crane (like most other Coles)!!! The only problem with this model is the fect that it suffered with many leakages and short-comings in the oil system, but for the rest they were more than excellent!!! Models like the crane in the above photographs were only produced in right hand drive versions and if I'm not mistaken they have got a carrying capacity of about 13 and one third tons.Correct me if I'm mistaken. |
