However, circular headlamps were standard on 1978 Custom. 1979 all trims received square headlamps.

That is incorrect. 1979 models can have black bezels it was an option on lower trimmed models and standard on higher trim. However, circular headlamps were standard on 1978 Custom. 1979 all trims received square headlamps.
