There are at least 2 cars here. The car in the thumbnail image displays the standard equipment "Luxury Wheel Covers" while the car in the main page displays the optional "Turbine Spoke Aluminum Wheels." Both cars appear to have been repainted, as their Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) badges have been removed. The car in the main image couriously has no key hole on the driver's door, unless this has something to do with the Keyless Entry System, for which the buttons would be located centrally on the lower window sill. I cannot tell if there is a "Signature Series" scripted badge on the lower part of the C-pillar, so this can either be a 1980 or a 1981. If this were confirmed to be a 1980 the name "Town Coupe" would be preceded by "Lincoln Continental" 1981 would be "Lincoln Town Car Signature Series Two Door" 1980: http://www.fvn.no/amcar/brochures/lincoln/80linc/80linc.html 1981: http://www.fvn.no/amcar/brochures/lincoln/81linc1/81linc1.html |

^Lack of the EFI badge means it was equipted with the 351 Windsor; making it a 1980 model and therefore a Continental coupe model 66D. |

Agreed. Yes, a gaudy looking car, but I always hated the trend where a decent car is totalled for "comic effect". Why is this funny? This film bombed at the box office and sunk the studio. Karma for the death of the Lincoln(s). Incidentally, I wouldn't be surprised if there were at least two cars as suggested above and with repaints due to the apparent damage. The car or cars that were written off most likely were not brand spanking new. Still, this is painful. The actress Jessica Tandy who appeared in this film apparently hated the script, but wanted to work with John Schlessinger. She probably wishes she didn't want to have been that eager..... |
