Daimler grill. |

No side chrome, tints, wash/wipe, so despite unusual wheels I think Sovereign - 79+, or 81+ if rear headrests. |

Not sure what to make of the rear - number plate plinth and badging smell Jag, not Daimler, though it does confirm rear headrests for 81+ date. So is the Daimler grille an incorrect substitute? Are we safer calling it 81+ Jag XJ6? |

Right hand rear badge looks V12, so maybe some kind of XJ12. Maybe S 415 GT will oblige with extra views. |

Some more pics: This car and the Volvo: /vehicle_589308-Volvo.html caused the huge traffic jam. |

With the new pics, I think it is a Jag XJ12 which has been Daimlerised. The biggest clue is the Jag-only badges on front wings low down behind front arch, plus the V12 rear badge which was not used on any Daimler. Wheels are good for XJ12 (though not unique); Daimlerisation has been new front grille and the rear number plate plinth in 2nd thumb (however I'm not convinced that /vehicle_589299-Mercedes-Benz-E-Klasse-W211.html shows the same fluted plinth - maybe 2 cars or an incomplete conversion at that stage???). |

I'll go for Sovereign V12 with Daimler parts. V12 badging rather than H.E. means 1985-89 (thereafter it was a plaque badge reading V12 unlike what is seen here). The Sovereign badge must have been removed (XJ12 wouldn't have a V12 badge). That is in the hope that the V12 badge is original and not something that has been added later like the Daimler bits... It is very common for Jaguars seen in German productions to have parts from several different models, it would seem. |

Agreed. |

But Daimlers did have D badges there. At this quality can you be sure it isn't that? As for the V12 badge, someone could have stuck it on. -- Last edit: 2013-12-15 23:03:16 |
