ID as Humber 90 after info at /vehicle_238427-Humber-90-1965.html (although this one has earlier roof line). But would be interested to know if Super Minx and Singer Vogue were sold in NZ, and how to tell them apart in local trims. I know Singer was not used as a brand in Aus, so their models were split between Hillman, Sunbeam and Humber - what did NZ do?

I am not really sure what the situation was re these models but there were Hillman, Humber and Singer dealers so the Todds assembly plant may have done a model for each. There is always the possibilty with any English car seen that it is a UK-assembled car privately imported by an immigrant. Several shiploads came in each year.

as regarding Humber 90 which used a Hillman Super Minx body - The Humber 90 and smaller 80 series were marketed in NZ and South Africa to give Humber dealers something smaller to sell. Down the road from me in Clyma Street Upper Hutt a retired Mechanic is the second owner of a mint green Humber 80 based on Hillman Minx 1950-1956 and surprising I thought it was NZ assembled but in fact is UK assembled for the NZ Market; This also goes for later 80 series (1956-1963c) initially before Todds took over building them CKD and last of the breed the 90 series was NZ Assembled- Currently as I speak a very good 90 series is for sale here in NZ for around $6000 advertised in latest Classic Driver magazine one of the few left -The Humber 80 and 90 series were never sold in the UK!!

Singers were sold in New Zealand prior to the Rootes take over and after - Prior to Rootes take over Singer Roadsters amd Hunter sedans (1951-1956) were British Assembled some are the rare fibreglass front fenders models!! We got the Singer Vogue based on the Super Minx ; The Singer Gazelle based on the Hillman Minx I believe they were UK assembled as they were luxury models ; During 1967-1970 'Arrow body' We got the Singer Vogue sedan and wagon again British Assembled

Humbers we got the lowered roof line Humber Sceptre and more powerful engine based on the Super Minx this was British Assembled - Australia got a cheaper model they marketed and CKD in australia called the Humber Vogue ; a few British assembled Humbers Scepres were sold in Australia however

Regard to later Arrow shape (Humber Hunter based) we only got on special order through a limited number of dealers the sedan mostly were manual overdrive - Wagons did not appear until 1974-1976 anyway and 4 or so that are here are ex UK new!

Thanks for all this Rootes info - useful. My understanding is that the Aus Humber Vogue was just a rebadged Singer Vogue because the Singer brand was not successful in Aus - the various Singer models were split between Humber, Hillman and Sunbeam (so Singer Chamois became Hillman GT, Singer Gazelle became Hillman Gazelle etc). Singer Vogue was always mid-level between Super Minx and Sceptre, so Humber Vogue would in the normal course of events be cheaper than Sceptre and not have Sceptre's higher output engines.
