Specifically, the taillights make it 1971 or newer, and chrome wheel arches mean it can't be a Brookwood (Biscayne) or Townsman (Bel Air), while the lack of faux wood panelling makes it a Kingswood (Impala); the Kingswood Estates all had wood panelling. At one point, Archer mentions it has 8-Track. |

I don't know if I should nitpick on this To me, it a good rendering of 1973 Chevrolet Bel Air |

But the Bel Air wagons (the Townsmans) did not have chrome wheel arches. |

That settle it. Indeed it is a really good rendering of 1973 Chevrolet Bel Air |

I'm an Archer fan. When I saw a clip from this episode, my jaw dropped. I own a '74 Impala and have really been into this generation of Chevrolet for a while now. I couldn't believe this wagon was on the show, and how well they animated it, especially since in a lot of episodes, vehicle have styling cues slightly off and/or mixed with those of totally different vehicles. In spite of the drawing the car with strut towers you can see with the hood open, and something that almost resembles an LT1 350 with the "home plate delete" from a 1990s B-body, they did a great job with this one. -- Last edit: 2013-04-12 16:45:16 |

Also, the car has a Caprice grille, to further add to the mish-mash effect here. Impala and everything else would have a bowtie in the center and an eggcrate appearance. The hubcaps almost resemble the "Corvette flag" finned ones that were offered on the early cars of this generation as well. And the front side marker lights at the bottom of the front fenders that the 1973's have aren't there. You'd think it was a goof, but I think the animators actually do this sort of thing on purpose on that show to confuse people who they know are going to nitpick everything...the show never really nails down what year they are in, many obsolete items are in use while modern items are also available that would not have been...etc. -- Last edit: 2013-04-12 17:06:57 |

Yep, that is how these animators would mess this up, matt trakker |

Haha. They're probably reading this site as we speak. FWIW, the car has the correct 1971-1973 taillights, the 74-76 had vertical ribs in them. |
