Kind of looks like a Mercedes 220 W187, but I don't know if those existed in 1950

Weird...are we sure the movie is from 1950?

The car in that pic even has the accent lines on the side of the hood/bonnet. It's uncanny.

Movie was released in September 1950, but the car was presented in 1951, it is not just a model-year.
But couldn't it be the older W136/W191 ?

Yes, it seems it is one of those cars. Somehow I was thinking the 170 didn't have pontoon fenders like the car in that pic yet. But I guess a brand new one in 1950 would have. Sounds good to me.
