Of course it sounds like a Trabant, because the engine is not only a two-stroke-two-cylinder, too, it's even the direct prececessor of the Trabant-engine. The two-stroke-three-cylinder of the IFA F9 and all Wartburg (except the 1.3), also the Barkas, is also DKW-based. As the Wartburg-chassis, too, it's based on the 1941 DKW "Reichsklasse"-prototype. Which -the threecylinder-engine,too- was also the base for the West German post-war DKW until the 1000 S de luxe, except the F102. |
