Next geneneration is more roundish & lowered trunk height.

 Strange, I thought that this generation of Civic in USA had different headlights (these ones look like the European ones).
Maybe a newer model still in that generation, e.g. 1986 ?

Sorry :( i've forgotton about US model headlight.
SAE sealed-beam restriction ends in 1984 & this hubcap is from 1986 facelifted model, so you are right.

 If it was identified as '86 no need to give again 83-87 range (which is actually 84-87, as we use model-years rather than production years)
