I remember when Harold Washington passed away while he was still active as a Mayor. |

A little distasteful to steal that footage for a bad comedy movie. |

Never knew of an Eldorado Funeral Coach. Nice. |

Apparently one of two built by Miller-Meteor. -- Last edit: 2012-12-30 04:50:06 |

Let me put this straight: Two different Eldorado prototypes were built: One by the Bayliff Coach Corp. of Lima, Ohio, commissioned by Jack Hardesty's Barron Corp. of Lima, Ohio. The second one was manufactured by the Barron Corp., because Mr. Hardesty wasn't convinced of the somewhat outlandish appearance of the Bayliff-Eldorado - and that second prototype by Barron is the one we see above. Barron had acquired the rights to use the Miller-Meteor name after the Wayne Corp. (yes, these dudes who made school buses and such) had closed this division. In that respect, "Miller-Meteor" is more of a model name here (and in my eyes a tragedy it even appears on this page... nevermind!). Hardesty subsequently sold his prototype, the tooling and the rights to Miller-Meteor to another bus manufacturer: Collins, who were mainly interested in getting their hands on that famous name, but by no means in Eldorado-based funeral coaches. They modified the tooling and released their own 6CZ90-based funeral coaches instead, again using the Miller-Meteor name as icing on the cake. |
