except that it is a red bus, I do not really see what is common between these two... |

I think it's inspired by a MCW Metrobus |

should the windshield be the same too? it's the only thing that doesn't seem to match with the one of the picture |

The front end looks like an early 1960s Daimler Fleetline, the rear looks like a MCW Metrobus. Not having a staircase could be a problem. |

Generic Double Decker Bus, nothing else |

It's more like a modern bus than the old Routemaster (which the passenger entered at the rear rather than the front like more modern buses do). Many double-deckers in Britain just have the one entrance at the front, but since this is an animators drawing it may be copied from any bus in particular. Animators don't seem to have the time or the inclination to be accurate in every single detail when it comes to drawing certain things in particular, for example military uniforms in The Simpsons and other cartoons are often very inaccurate, partly because some uniforms (particular those of the US Military which feature many badges and ribbons) contain so much detail. Animators avoid doing drawings with excessive detail because it makes them more difficult to animate and copy, animation takes a long time to do and they only have so much time, this is why most cars in cartoons are very generic looking and don't contain enough detail for them closely resemble particular models of car, unless it copies a car with a very distinctive design, like the VW Beetle. |

Leyland Titan, edition for excursion. Or the Scania-chassis London-doubledekker... |

I agree "MCW Metrobus" the shot of the front of the vehicle shows the asymetric windscreen from the mark one Metrobus, although other shots are more like Volvo Olympians, Definitely NOT a routemaster as these were front engined (as has already been said) but not all versions were rear entrance ....the RMA version operated by London Transport on behalf of airlines BEA & BOAC to Heathrow with luggage trailers had front entrances, also versions outside London had front entrances (operated by Northern General in Newcastle) Also definitely NOT the early 60s Daimler Fleetline (or similar Leyland Atlantean) nor as someone mentioned Leyland Titan as all three had recessed rear lower deck windows above the engine. MCW stood for Metropolitan Cammel-Weyman ....Metro Cammel and Weyman were both bodybuilders who merged, Metro Cammel also made underground trains for London. The MCW Metrobus was an integral design with a choice of Cummins, Gardner, or Rolls-Royce engines. The Metro Cammel factory where the Metrobus was built was in Washwood Heath in Birmingham :-) |
