Not the Volkswagen Kurierwagen [Typ 181] |

"Kurierwagen" was the official military name, Vokswagen has named it just "181" and the common name is "Kübelwagen". About this specific car I'm not sure about its first usage. It is not a civil version due the painted door handles and left mirror. The headlight-rings, the indicator houses and the right mirror were changed later. The ultimative hint for an original civil version are the back door handles These in chrome are unique for this version. All other chrome parts are the same for other VW's. But I cannot see the flag-holder of the Bundeswehr-version. Due the colour it may be original from the THW, the "Technisches Hilfswerk" - but they had usually the civil version. |

Kübelwagen is Typ 82, not 181 |

Yes, but "Kübelwagen" is just the common nickname, used everywhere in the classic car- and VW-enthusiasts-scene. If one of the rare Typ82 appears, they people say "Kriegs-Kübelwagen" to make the difference. |

Like people calling the Citroën Type H a "Tub", which was the previous model actually... but on the site we try to use correct names |
