This is Hindustan Standard Mini Bus. It was a huge failure and not in production any more. Hindustan now makes Ambassador and old mitsubishi designed, lancer and pajero. |

This was made by Standard Motor Products of Perungalathur, Tamil Nadu, India (near Madras; not by Hindustan Motors of Uttarpara (near Calcutta)). It's based on the Standard Atlas van. Standard Motor Products (StaMPro) existed from 1948..1988. They also made the Standard Vanguard, 8, 10, Companion, Herald, Gazel and Standard 2000 before fading out into the sunset. Here's a sketch I made of the original Atlas. http://xs200.xs.to/xs200/06181/Standard20Atlas-600x455.jpg |

Hindustan and Standard are two independent brands. |

This is not a 'Hindustan' by any means, has nothing to do with Hindustan. It was known as STANDARD 20, made by STAMPRO (STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS), Madras, India in the early 80s. The first version was bade on the Leyland 20, with a wet-liner Vanguard engine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/drrocky/5413498707/ This was the second version known as the "MICRO" 'hope that clarifies things. Please correct the name mentioned. Thanks -- Last edit: 2011-05-11 19:09:49 |
