I hate what they did to this car...it was in great shape! The interior lights even still worked.

I remember they rigged this to a remote control. By testing it, Adam rode in the backseat while Jamie manuevered it with the remote. I don't know if Jamie did it on purpose, but it ended up crashing through a gate! Adam freaked out, but was unharmed.

I just watched this on television. Why, oh why did they have to do it ?
It's a 40-years old car, they don't make these anymore ! I was so hoping the test to fail

It only suffered minor damgages. Broken drive shaft, ripped brake line and a dent on the hood. The engine was still running fine. So, they didn't really destroy the car...

what did they want to prove?

carchasesfanatic wrote what did they want to prove?

They wanted to see if the car would leap in the air if the drive shaft came loose from under the car and struck a big pothole. After dozens of tries, they finally caught the rod into the pothole. The back end went up about a foot and half. It didn't cause any serious damage to the car, and it could easily be repaired.

They had to use a '67 Fury because that was the same car featured in the myth they were testing.

I think that the myth was that if the drive shaft broke and went into a pothole it would flip the car over onto its top. Myth was proved false.

They used it again in a later myth and crash it into a concrete barrier and absolutely totalled it :(

If you're mad about classics being destroyed, then check out this website about a few demo derby drivers in the UK! There are A LOT of American cars on there, some cars are from the 1920s  (they're rare already!) And some look like new before they were ruined in the derby! And they use first generation Mustangs,Camaros, Trans Ams, And Other Classic American Muscles. http://www.atozofbangerracing.co.uk/index3.htm

-people who enjoy wrecking half century old cars,or older are parasites! These cars will NEVER come back!
Also,in American demo derbies, the cars can't be older than 1950 (and I think it should be lowered a couple decades)

While I like the show, I think it is a crime for what they are doing to these classics.

It is a shame... they are millions of cars 10/15 year olds running for a couple hundred bucks they could destroy... I like the younger crowd there, but I don't like the old moustaches..

Would love to see boycotts arranged against attending movies where collector cars are gratuitously destroyed but it will never happen. Too many people love it and Hollywood feeds on that. (Or maybe it's the other way around.)

Just came across this. It makes me want to puke. They should have "borrowed" the car belonging to the show's producer and done the same thing to it.

At least it was a 4 door but it was still way to nice to destroy it in the way they did.
