I have the same car, and I know the 1995 models had different tail lights than the model used in the movie (a good shot of the tail lights it taken when he parks next to the mazda rx-7). On wikipedia.org, they have a picture of the 1993-1995 model corollas here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:93-95_Toyota_Corolla_2.jpg And they have the picture of the 1996 model corollas here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:96-97_Toyota_Corolla_CE.jpg And, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Corolla , "Minor changes occurred for the 1996 model year. Among these changes, the DX received bright red/clear tail lights and rear garnish, and new wheel covers." So yeah. Also, I think the car was assembled somewhere in California (Freemont?), so I'm not sure its origin was Japan.
