By the wheels and lack of a molding badge this one appears to be a late run special edition Artic aka Bel-Air outside GB. Here is an August of 1998 (1999 MY) printed brochure. opel-info.de also states these wheels were offered: 08/1997 - 11 /1998 |

... Arctic ... As far as I can tell Arctic April 97 edition on 1.6i & 1.8i LS and 4/5 doors with aircon (possibly explaining the name??), alloys, body colour bumpers and mirrors, only available in Star Silver metallic and Ceramic Blue pearlescent. Reappeared as Arctic II in Sept 97 with fogs. electric windows, the same Star Silver but the blue became Premium Blue. March 98 a 2.5 V6 24v Arctic appered, but no other details given. |

Thanks for the information dsl. The early 1997 models have the CDX wheels prior to the introduction of the alloys seen above. There was also an Arctic II but I cannot seem to differentiate them. Seems to have been offered concurently? March of 1997 brochure. September of 1997 brochure. |

I guess these were batch production runs, so they'd churn out all the first Arctics in one block, and if it sold quickly, then decide to re-run it with a couple of minor tweaks as Arctic II. If you're right about the alloys dating, this looks more like Arctic II wheels from comparing the brochure pics, without the indents on the first Arctic spokes, and with Arctic II fogs. |

It's these wheels, switched from a newer model: https://m.atcdn.co.uk/a/media/3a5c6e0308b34c0593820fbe0ce3aa8d.jpg The Arctic/facelift GLS wheels had larger spokes, so the centre caps almost touch the spokes: https://m.atcdn.co.uk/a/media/3a5c6e0308b34c0593820fbe0ce3aa8d.jpg Link to "upload.wikimedia.org" -- Last edit: 2024-06-20 20:50:16 |
