Seems Leno has/had 2 37As - one from 1926 (blue, this one) and another from 1928 (white, #24, chassis 37316, originally raced by Veyron in 1928) visible behind the blue one in ^ link and http://www.bugattibuilder.com/photo/thumbnails.php?album=2994 and /vehicle_252062-Bugatti-Type-37-A-37316-1928.html . But I can't find a chassis # for the 1926 blue one. Edit: "Leno's a stickler for originality on his ... two real Bugattis, but also owns replicas: .. a Type 37A that's all Bugatti parts but they didn't all come from the factory at the same time" - http://www.forbes.com/2000/12/18/1218lenols.html . Given the extensive online references for this blue car but never any clue to chassis number, this explanation seems very plausible and the car is a replica - or possibly best described as a recreation to separate it from things with VW bits whirring away in the rear. -- Last edit: 2012-07-07 14:11:26 |
