 Any closer view of the plate? Where shall it be from?
Between 1948 and 1956 only West-Berlin and the DDR had white plates with black letters, all others were black with white letters. O.k., well, it can be a dealer's plate. They were white, too, but with red lettering.

So this Granit has western plates? Then really more likely a pre-war model
(1500) than the DDR production or not?

Yes, these black plates were issued between 1948 and 1956 for the Western Occupation Zones: http://www.hegis.de/brd3.htm

 for the link down here: /vehicle_512284-Volkswagen-Cabriolet-Typ-1-1950.html So the Ford has (as the original car. The movie was about a robbery, which had really happen) an US military plate (here surely a fake).
