Do the small hubcaps suggest something earlier than a 2002?? |

For UK, choice in early round-rear-lamp format was 1600-2 or 2002. Both had same hubcaps, but 2002 had perforated wheel trim rings. Not sure if present here so can't decide. UK 2002 got lower trim strip a year or two before 1600-2. |

If I understand this right, the lower side strip didn't exist on the pre 1971 models, e.g. 1600-2. Therefore it has to be one of the following models; 1602, 1802 or 2002. @dsl: Were the 1602 and 1802 models on offering in UK? |

We did get 1602, but never the 1802. |

It's an 1802 (no alloys) |

??????? |

Can't be an 1802 in UK ^^^. But he's right that they are not alloys. |

This means nothing. They were always an optional extra for extra charge. IIRC even for the 2002 ti and tii you had to pay the alloys extra. |

How can it be sure this is a 2002? |

Maybe by some details, dsl has mentioned above. Otherwise only by the badge on the trunk. |

I was referring to the headline. As far as I can see nothing is obvious from this angle. Why not create a '02-model headline to be able to use when not 100%? |

We have this problem every day here, for example with many Benzes, too. Very often the badges are the only hint. If there aren't some or you cannot read them, you only can guess. Mainly the most common version is chosen. |

I labelled as 2002 because these were much more common in UK than 1602 which never sold well. Early 1600-2 was popular here, but only until 2002 arrived. |
