I think Consul Mk2 [205E, as LHD] rather than Zephyr, 1956-9 for painted headlight rims. -- Last edit: 2012-05-16 19:13:19 |

painted rims made me wonder about "militarized" version Ford never delivered Consul MK2 in Germany because of Taunus 17m first Consul to get to see here was Consul/Granada 1970 |

Interesting thinking, and I would agree if it's a German-based car it would probably be BFPO (British Forces Posted Overseas), or some other odd possibilities such as diplomatic car. But if location is Vienna, UK Fords were sold - at least in 60s and 70s -alongside German ones so could be ordinary civilian car. Austria took several other UK ranges - Rootes, BMC, Vauxhall - in small numbers which never appeared in Germany. |

this was exactly what i thought, the color could be olivdrab or faint grey, but civilians liked this colors, too In Germany we saw these cars in Film we only know from our matchbox Corgi or Dinky toys! In fact that is one reason to publish on IMCDB, never had the chance to meet other enthusiasts, that could have explained! -- Last edit: 2012-05-16 02:02:59 |

In about 1974, we had a family holiday in Vienna. I got bored with all the cultural highlights and went car brochure hunting instead, and always remember the Ford dealer having Cortina Mk3s and Taunus TC side by side in the showroom. I told my dad who did not believe me, so we had to go back the next day to show him. |
