Is Polski-Fiat a Polish division of Fiat? Are they any different than regular Fiats? |

Most of Fiat cars produced and assembled in Poland beetween 1932-1939 (www.autohistories.com/pzinz/PolskiFiat.html) and 1967-1994 were called "Polski Fiat". However factories, which produced them (like FSO, FSM) weren't a divisions of Fiat concern, because they belonged to the Polish government, so their products were a license versions of Italian cars. I think that after WWII the most different from the original was Polski Fiat 125p which had a different engine, chassis, some details of body (hedlights etc.), and was also produced in more variants than Italian 125 (combi, pickup, some sport/rally versions). In the early 90's Italians has bought FSM plant, and from 1994 all Fiats "made in Poland" are known just as... Fiat. -- Last edit: 2006-10-06 13:32:27 |

Italian 1968 Fiat 125 were powered by a DOHC 1600cc engine, Polski were powered by the older 1295cc or 1481cc Fiat engine from 1961 1300/1500. 4 round headlights for the Polish and 4 squared on the Italian. Weasel gave you all other details |
