Yeah, do German police use that old cars? And would some green police cars to be repainted in new style? |

No, this effort would be too expensive. The green one are used parallel uintil their singling out. Same with the uniforms. Our cops wear out their old green/beige clothings, while the new uniforms are blue. They aren't allowed to be bi-coloured. Either blue or green/beige uniforms. Btw: since many years German police cars aren't painted any more. It's all sticker-tape, which comes off for the auctions. |

Not for the patrol service, but some buses and transporters are still from the 80ies. In West Germany, AFAIK no vehicles are left in duty from the DDR-Volkspolizei now. But some Lada Niva from the VP were indeed used until after 2000. |

Blue police colors are so boring and common... |

It was changed to be uniform with the other EU-countries. Back in the 60ies we had a few blue police cars, but only for a short time and not everywhere. This example is from West Berlin: /vehicle.php?id=275858 In Germany the police is federally organized, so there were and are always exceptions. Like the Peugeot-patrol car in the Saarland: /vehicle.php?id=15748 |

Well, today isn't good times for EU, so maybe they became green again? |

For us in Germany the EU is fine at the time. We only hope, that Merkozy keeps the purse closed and keep our cabbage here. |

Have you only got one? We have lots in Scotland - probably some spares if you want to trade for Hillman brochures. |

Huh, annother failed try to use English slang words. Interesting, that we have complete other colloquial words for "money". For trading literature about your beloved cars, I need stuff, which is required by Dutchmen and Belgians. There I can find it, not here. But cabbage, kale etc. would't be bad for that, because the different German Grünkohl-meals taste much better than the flavourless Dutch stamppot /vehicle.php?id=448372 More important would be bearable bread. The Dutch is terrible. |

Cabbage and lettuce are rather American slang words (as their leafs are green as dollars) for money, maybe dsl doesn't know them?:) I doubt it, it was rather a joke. In Poland (where bank notes ain't green at all) you can also name money with terms 'kapusta' (cabbage) or 'sałata' (lettuce). The story of police Peugeots of Saarland was interesting! Funny they cherish their French heritage in that way. -- Last edit: 2012-02-14 15:05:49 |

I seem to remember that Peugeot's German HQ (or that of their importers) was in Saarbrücken. At one time all the cars in their advertising had SB registrations. |
