Yay, general assumptions at its best! Have you made a surrvey, or what?

There was a strong importation of Peugeot 404 to Brazil. It is quite interesting to remark that in Rio de Janeiro, the only car factories that sustained somehow their agents were: Ford, GM, Citroën, Mercedes-Benz and Peugeot. From 57 to the seventies you could buy and have services of 404, DS 21, 220 S, Mustang or a Chevelle, if could afford for it. All other factories gave place to national manufacturing in mid-sixties(you could say any name from Skoda to Fiat, Austin to Jaguar).

Concerning French cars, it is true that today there is a rejection due to very high maintenance costs of Peugeot-Citroen cars, but Renault has a different image with many taxy drivers using Logan.

The picture car seems to me a Aero-Willys 2600, 63-64, due to Thunderbird-style roof (very similar to 404 roof line) and rear fins.

You may see a 1964 Peugeot 404 in this amateur Super-8 film (http://vimeo.com/35454111) made in the seventies. The car owner is a friend of mine. Another Peugeot 404 break was also in this friend family, but I have no photos.

I don't know portuguese so I can't really read it. It's not because of lacking respect but the fact that I have never learnt it. I think that this: "por que na minha humilde opinião" means "my humble opinion", which I interpret as the authors personal opinion, not of the whole of the brazilian people, as you like to read it.

Well, another silly discussion when IGNORE and UNRESPECT the reality... you don't know portuguese because you insult me and ignore, hate... and you're blind. Exists one thing called GOOGLE TRANSLATOR... Okay?
Poor idiot, without any education.
The brazilian people have this preconcepts, you don't see the reality, you're blind... goodbye! youre disgusting and rude.

Yes, the reason I never learnt portuguese when I went to school ten years ago was because I knew I would have an argument with an argentinian guy on a website that didn't exist back then. You sure "hit the head on the nail" as we say in swedish.

Aero Willys looks different.

Today I found that Renaults largest market outside of France is Brazil.

http://www.renault.com/en/groupe/renault-dans-le-monde/pages/ventes.aspx
Quote Brazil is now the Renault group’s No.2 market, after sales there rose 21% in a market that expanded by 3%. The Renault brand set new records for sales (194,300 units) and market share (5.7%).

Well, for Audi China is a bigger market than Germany.

Bob Dieck BR

Back to the fact, I insist on Aero-Willys 2600. Even in a movie which placed a BelAir as a Police car, they would never use a Peugeot 404 as a taxi in Brazil, I guess and hope.

If you look there is a taxi plate on the roof.

Concerning dimmensions: Aero-Willys is 4810 x 1839 and 404 is 4410 x 1690. Not a big difference, to trace from eyeview. A VW is 4026 x 1540 all in mm.

Funnily is that the best selling Renaults in Brazil are the Sandero and the Logan

One of the worlds most absurd demarcation is close to chicomarx-village: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baarle ;)

P.S.My own house stand on a historic, but still today noticeable demarcation line - between the Rhineland and Westphalia. Our village was unified in 1975. The most important difference was the religion catholic vs.protestantic. Very good to see in the next days: while the people in the Rhineland are celebrating their (catholic based) carnival, the very most Westphalians ignore it. In the daily life you will find more differences, not only about football-clubs, also the dialect/accent is different, the beer  an other details, too.

Really, I don't know, on which side of the ancient borderline-acre my house stands, although I've even asked the people in our tiny local museum. But anaways, we always prefer the Westphalian style of living ;)

@antp: next month we've booked vacations in a village, where you have some bizarre details between Germany and Belgium :)
As for example a Belgian bicycle-path (formerly a railroad track) through Germany, a German road through Belgium, and a Belgian house in the middle of a German village.
