:wow: Very odd! A car, which was never cofficially sold in Germany with a German export plate... Anyways, the plate looks very faked.

Ingo, this is not so odd...!!! Probably a car firstly purchased by a British military officier serving in Western germany or in Berlin. Don't You agree ?

No, I don't, because back then all and nowadays a higher percentage of British soldiers, stationated here, are keeping the GB-registration. So the cars were never officially registrated in Germany (it would be also stupid due tax regulations). And without a Geman registration, you cannot get a German export plate.

I agree with ingo. BFPO (British Forces Posted Overseas) plates were white on black rectangular - Link to "en.wikipedia.org" . Also possibly odd that a BFPO car would be LHD - in most cases, the idea was that the soldiers would bring the car back to UK after tour of duty finished.

In Italy they had a strange USA registration (we had only USA army) "A.F.I. = AMERICAN FORCES IN ITALY in the shape of an american plate, but now, for security reasons they have normal Italian plates. For this motivation I though the same for Germany.
