Therefore FX3 Provincial Taxi or FL1 Hire Car as also here registered in Oxford Another potential point of recognition is that the FL1 Hire cars tend to have fully chromed grilles whereas the London Taxis have painted grilles with six separate plated side bars in addiction to the central vertical section similar to the Austin style of post war trucks. From the body, taxi sign and grille it suggests its a Provincial taxi sold by Austin and not the 'London Taxi' sourced only through Mann & Overton Ltd. who partly financed the tooling.
