This car was made in 1985, not 1984. I think everyone on this site should be made aware of the DVLA Vehicle Licensing website at http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/ If you are doing a page with UK registered vehicles, visit this site, click on vehicle enquiry and enter the registration and make and providing the record exists (sometimes it doesn't) it will tell you the year of manufacture, the date it was first registered and the engine size. I'm tired of seeing people put a year down because the prefix letter of registration began in that year, the car could easily have been made the year after. |

..I'm affraid G-Mann ...not everyone has the time to check with the DVLA ...for every car they list.! (..for example ...I've just got time to add a few cars...before shooting off to the hospital to check on my dad .!) ..I have Loads of car books ..Magazines ..and of course could check the web (with time ..I could check up on all the cars I list ..and probably name them ..with correct year)....But time to do All of this is a big problem ... right now ...just to add some new films and cars is a big task.! I agree with your comment stronghold completely. Searching the DVLA website is not always easy and there are many other possible details that can also be verified elsewhere where time is not a problem. But one thing I would recommend. I try to (but not 100% I'm afraid) post in the comments the DVLA data if I have located it, It then eliminates the need for others to verify the information, also things like engine size are there for others to see. Fair enough if you don't have the time, but don't put the year until you've checked the registration, or leave it for someone else to do. But going to visit your dad in hospital is far more important than this, I'm hope he's alright. Sometimes checking the DVLA website can be awkward, especially if it is hard to completely make out the registration on the image, or the car is from the BMC group or Austin (you have to check several different brands). As we already found records of cars destroyed in movies or not licenced since few years, I guess that they do not remove so fast the record. But then why are some recent car not listed anymore? -- Last edit: 2006-08-13 12:55:40 |

I guess that unless the DVLA has positive evidence of the car being scrapped that the data remains 'live' on the system even if the car remains unlicenced. If the car is destroyed as part of a movie the production company probably is not concerned enough to inform the DVLA.
