Austin A 40 1959 or A 40 MkII of 1962. About Farina, wasn't it only a "nickname" for PininFarina?... then should be add between ' '

'Farina' was never really part of the name for any of the BMC models at the time but it was quoted a lot in the motoring press and probably in BMC adverts as highlighting the Italian design. Nickname I think.

Example of an MG advert quoting 'Farina'.

I agree that 'Farina' is not an official part of the name for the Austin A40 (1958-67). This was the first of the cars styled by Pinin Farina for BMC and the first two-box car, became the first hatchback and won twice the Monte Carlo Coupe des Dames. Something special in motoring history.

This one is the Countryman version of the first series (1959-51). Note the hinges on the rear window frame and the shorter (83.5") wheelbase.

Among car enthousiasts when they say "a BMC-'Farina-style" was simply a stylistic clue to identify soon a model series or range;so,but if quoted in the ads of period,'Farina writing don't appears meanwhile on cars;just an example,if you talk of an Austin A40,and who heard us ask "what type???",then,if you say"'Farina-style",is easy to understand that we're talking of a 1959 MkI styled by Pininfarina, while if your reply was"A 40"simply,we intend models of years before, with equal name, but no styled by Pininfarina.

To keep everything the same this should be A40 'Farina' Countryman (e.g. /vehicle_61598-Austin-A40--Farina-.html)
