jpts ◊ 2015-01-20 17:43	That scene was used from the Bureau Of Investigation (now the Federal Bureau of Investigation) reenactment of the murders of Texas Highway Patrol officers; Edward Wheeler and Holloway "H.D." Murphy; who were shot near the intersection of Highway 114 and Dove Road at Grapevine (now Southlake) in Tarrant County, Texas by the members of the Barrow Gang; Clyde Barrow and Henry Methvin on the 1st April (Easter Sunday) 1934. After the murders, the chief of the Texas Highway Patrol; L.G. Phares; offered a $1,000 reward for the death of the killers, this was followed by an addition $500 reward offered by the Governor of Texas; Miriam "Ma" Ferguson. It was believed that Bonnie (not Methvin) was the 2nd killer of Murphy and Wheeler. Five days later on the 6th April 1934, Barrow and Methvin shot and killed police constable and single father; William "Cal" Campbell near Commerce in Ottawa County, Oklahoma and later, kidnapped the chief of Commerce Police; Percy Boyd. After kidnapping Boyd, Barrow, Parker and Methvin took him across the Oklahoma-Kansas State Border where they released him with a fresh shirt, a few dollars and a request from Bonnie for Boyd to tell the world that she didn't smoke cigars. -- Last edit: 2019-10-09 11:54:30
