18 months... I'm betting it was either written off in a crash or torched after being stolen by joyriders.

Probable Ford fleet plate. Interesting that D792 PVW also vanishes from the radar after 18 months - /vehicle_371716-Ford-Sierra-RS-Cosworth-1986.html - maybe they were retired for racing/rallying after a hard life as press cars??

Here is list of Ford press fleet -D792 PVW absent - but most likely to be on fleet due to PVW match

792 is on the list, but 769 is not (although 765 is). By fleet plate, I mean something much bigger than just press/PR - includes everything Ford registered for company use. When my dad worked for Rootes/Chrysler in 60s/70s, they block registered cars in batches of 50 to 200 or more and distributed them throughout the company for all kinds of reasons. A big chunk was for staff/employee cars - in those days offered on a rolling scheme with replacement every 6 months/6000 miles (apparently nearly-new cars were easiest to sell on afterwards), and continuing as an entitlement for ex-employees, which in his case was another 20-odd years. We had 2 Imps and an Avenger which had plates within 15-20 of works rally cars, a Hunter which was 3 off a brochure photo car and a Sceptre which was immediately after the one used by the chairman's wife. 2 of his Peugeot 309s were very close to sequences supplied to Coventry/Warwickshire police. I guess everybody else (Ford, Vauxhall, BMC/BL/Rover) did the same or similar things. So this Sierra is ex-Ford in some respect.

D755 PVW: /vehicle_450202-Ford-Granada-1986.html is also used in this series.
