:/ I think we sould definitively get on togother about the names of these VAZ/LADA/SHIGULI cars ! .... the make is VAZ, and there were named Shiguli in all Russian and east country area while for exportation in western countries there were bagdged Lada... during the 1990's,after the end of communist government it seems that Lada became gradually a used name in Russia too, due to massive re-importation of western market Lada (Shiguli)and in the meanwhile it seems that the new products from VAZ were badged as Lada (110, etc...)

We had already stated about it , naming all models as VAZ Lada, type Shiguli 2xxx when affected to russian market or type 1200, 1500 ,1600... when affected to western exportation countries... at the moment, this seems not be agreed by everybody, so it's time to discuss again and state definiively about it , what do you think :)

Shiguli = Zhiguli I guess? We already had some: www.imcdb.org/vehicles_make-Zhiguli.html and I think that they should at least be grouped.
I do not know if "VAZ" appeared in the make in Russia or if it was just part of the company name, but for West-Europe countries I think that we should use only "Lada".

I didn't know you stated on these car name. When I listen to a Russian film in "VO" they use the name Shiguli/Zhiguli and never Vaz. For me its like "Mini" which becomes the current name, even if they are Austin Seven or Morris Mini Minor... ;) Only Fiat 124 and derivates are Shiguli/Zhiguli. Samara and other Lada/Vaz are not

Vaz is always correct anyway

Up to me the good the solution would be to create 2 brands:

VAZ make Shiguli/Zhiguli? model name + type 2xxx
Lada make + model name 1xxx

or to keep VAZ Lada for all of them?

I would agree with that, VAZ or Lada as make depending on the country/year (we can't list european versions as VAZ...), with Zhiguli as model name if appropriate, and the model-number (2xxx) in chassis code like currently.

I do agree with Vaz or Lada depending of the market. The name of Zhiguli/Shiguli is sentimental for me...

and Lada was the name of boats used by primitive colonizator peoples of pre-medieval Russia, reproduced into badge of the car(and not copied, such as someone says,in malicious way,by similar Rover badge--also that with a boat that recalls those called"drakkar"by Vikings people)
